Helen's Bio and family

Where to begin,… I arrived in Eugene in September of 2000. It was the weekend of Northwest of Normal (currently named Eugene Celebration) and I believe it was also the Civil War between our beloved Ducks and Beavers. I immediately fell in love with the community and people of Oregon. But that really should not surprise me as I have always been told that my Great Grandparents were among the founding fathers of Oregon, having arrived from the Midwest via wagon train. This is home, and my heart knows it always has been.

I was raised in Santa Rosa, CA with 1 older sister. My childhood memories are filled with camping every chance we could and fun and happiness. My dad was my hero. He was a quiet man with a gentle spirit who embodied true humanity to me. Although he rarely spoke of it, I am now researching and writing a book on his experiences of being captured the day Pearl Harbor was attacked in Guam. He was a prisoner of war for the entire war, living through the unconscionable atrocities humans can do to other humans, both men and women. But, growing up I remember him telling me not to hate any people for the things their government forced them to do. He passed away 28 years ago and there is not a day that goes by that I do not think of him.

I met my husband Gary the first year I was in Oregon. He is a terrific man who has opened my eyes to the beauty and grandeur of the outdoors in Oregon. Things I love to do include hiking in the beautiful hills and mountains and discovering new waterfalls to photograph. Also fishing the magnificent rivers, lakes and bays (I get sea sick on the ocean), crabbing and cooking with Gary. For my stress reduction I enjoy playing my cherry baby grand piano, spending time with Gary and grandkids and enjoying our Ducks.

I have 3 grown children, along with Gary’s daughter Jeni all of whom I am extremely proud.
My daughter Emily is a Dental Hygienist here in Eugene. Michael just graduated from OSU (Beaver country) with a BS in Nuclear Engineering after 8 years in the Navy in a Nuclear Submarine. My oldest son Ryan lives in Santa Rosa and is a Contractor. He and his wife Ali are expecting their 1st child in Feb 2010, a son.

Jeni is an RN along with blessing us with 4 grandchildren, Montana is 10, Braedon 6 and now we have twin’s born July 2009, Ava Marie and Luke Anthony. We just love being grandparents. Her husband Kenny is now serving with the National Guard in Iraq.

I began my career in lending in the late 80’s in California. Things were much different then. It was the days before credit reporting agencies and computers on every desk. Applications were all hand written and verifications were all sent via snail mail. Decisions of credit worthiness were sometimes made in back rooms filled with committees of men. I lost a loan in my early days because it was a single woman and it was rumored she had loose morals. They were concerned she would get pregnant, quit her job or be fired. We have come a long way, and it has been a wonderful experience growing with all the changes- both good, bad along with frustrating. Along my career path I spent almost 8 years with Fidelity National Title in Mendocino County as Assistant VP of Sales and Marketing. Also two years working with Community Development of Mendocino County, -the housing authority. I helped many families to obtain their first home with the help of a silent 2nd for $30,000.

In 2007 I went through the CMPS training (Certified Mortgage Planning Specialist) in Dallas, TX. It was a eye opening and exhilarating experience, and has truly helped me to understand the WHY behind my industry and what makes the rates move and many other secrets to being successful in my industry.

Moving to Titan Funding was a great move for me and all my customers. Besides have excellent wholesale rates- far better than anything I have ever been able to offer before, I am supported by a great staff to help me and 24 hour guaranteed underwriting turnaround times. I know that any success I achieve in life is because of those that surround me.

I love working with 1st time homebuyers. Most of my business has come from my past clients and referrals from past clients. Whether you are looking to purchase a home, refinance or would like to discuss Reverse Mortgages, please let me know how I can assist you with your lending needs.
